In our journey of discovering strengths, we often look inward.
We ask ourselves:
- What energizes me?
- What do I enjoy doing?
- When do I feel most alive?
But what if I told you…
Sometimes the people around you see your strengths more clearly than you do.
When Strengths Feel “Normal”
One of the biggest reasons people overlook their strengths is because those strengths feel… ordinary.
They come naturally.
They don’t feel special.
They don’t feel like something worth noticing.
So we dismiss them.
We think:
- “That’s not a big deal.”
- “Everyone can do that.”
- “That’s just who I am.”
Meanwhile, someone else is watching you and thinking:
“I wish I could do that like they do.”
Others See What You Don’t
Have you ever had someone compliment you on something you didn’t even realize was a strength?
Maybe they told you:
- You’re a great listener
- You bring positive energy into a room
- You handle stressful situations calmly
- You always know how to support others
And your reaction was:
“Really? That’s nothing.”
But to them — it wasn’t nothing.
It was something they noticed.
Something they appreciated.
Something they may even admire.
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask
Here’s a simple challenge:
Ask someone you trust:
“What do you think my strengths are?”
You might feel a little awkward at first.
But what comes out of that conversation can be powerful.
Because now you’re not just guessing anymore — you’re seeing yourself through someone else’s perspective.
And then take it one step further:
Ask them:
“What was I doing when you noticed that?”
That’s where the real insight happens.
Why This Matters
When you begin to recognize your strengths — even the ones that feel “normal” — you start to build a new relationship with yourself.
You begin to see:
- You’ve had strengths all along
- You’ve been using them without realizing it
- You’re more capable than you gave yourself credit for
And when that realization hits…
Your confidence grows.
When you start using those strengths intentionally — even on difficult days — you build resilience.
See Yourself Differently
Don’t overlook what comes naturally to you.
Don’t dismiss what others see in you.
Don’t downplay what makes you uniquely strong.
You might be sitting on strengths that others admire — and you haven’t even recognized them yet.
So ask.
Listen.
Reflect.
You might be surprised by what you discover.
That’s how you build Confidence.
That’s how you strengthen Resilience.
And never forget — you’re already Beautiful.
