How to Love Yourself P.9 - Make Peace with the Mirror (Post #12)

Make Peace with the Mirror

Greetings Hottest Moms! Happy Wednesday and welcome to the ninth installment of the How to Love Yourself Series. Let’s talk about something many of us avoid… the mirror.

For some, the mirror is more than glass — it’s a battleground. It reflects not just our faces, but our pain, regrets, insecurities, and past trauma. Sometimes, the person staring back feels like a stranger… or worse, a MONSTER.

But here’s the truth: you are not a monster. You are a woman who’s survived, who’s grown, and who’s still learning to love herself.

That reflection doesn’t have to be your enemy. The mirror doesn’t have to feel like a threat. It can become your greatest ally — but only if you face it with love and honesty.

Here are some gentle suggestions:

  • Practice looking yourself in the eyes.
  • Speak kindly. Say, “I love you. I really love you.”
  • Forgive yourself — for what you didn’t know, for what you were still learning.
  • Talk to the version of you that’s hurting and offer her compassion, not criticism.
  • Forgive loved ones who contributed to the pain, and release their hold on you.

This is how we take control. This is how we stop seeing a monster and start seeing a hopeful, supportive protector — someone worthy of love and healing.

No one can do this work for you — but you don’t have to do it perfectly. You just have to start.
